Making Your Mobile Billboard Ads Locally Relevant
Mobile billboard ads are quickly becoming one of the most effective forms of advertisement for local businesses. The fact they are mobile in nature means they can be placed in heavy traffic areas under ideal circumstances to get the most exposure. However, a common mistake that continues to take place is ads not being relevant to the specific crowd they are advertising to, something we are going to change today.
Tips for Creating Locally Relevant Mobile Billboard Ads
Use the City’s Name – this should be a no-brainer, but you would be surprised how many people request generic ads rather than specifically calling out the town or city where the ads are going to be placed. This is a small detail, yes, but it is one that can and will mean a lot to the locals.
Use Local Celebrities/Sports Stars if Possible – If you are advertising outside of a sporting event, don’t you think an ad with a recognizable player would get far more attention than a generic ad? In the age of selfies, a passerby would improve your marketing reach by the thousands simply from the photos they are posting on social media.
Use Local Jargon – is there a certain phrase that is relevant to the area that can catch someone’s attention? For instance, in Philadelphia, an adding starting “Yo Philly” would work great. In the south, something along the lines of “Y’all see this bargain?!” In the Boston area, “wicked” can be worked into the copy.
Use Local Landmarks – working local landmarks into the copy or the ad itself will also generate interest. Furthermore, it shows the clientele that you are familiar with and care about the area.
Use the Local Events – whether the ad is focused on products for the local event or an event that is relevant is coming up, use that to your advantage. For instance, a sporting goods store could advertise products the pros use during a big sale.
The point here is that you want your ad creative and copy to be as relevant and local as possible to be more appealing to the target crowd. They are far more likely to pay attention to an ad that reflects their culture as well as promoting a local small business that gets “it” than they are a national chain or a business owner that uses generic images and copy.
