How to Market a Sandwich Shop
You just opened a sandwich shop but are still struggling for sales. Or, maybe your sandwich shop has been there for years, but you have and continue to struggle to gain a foothold in the local market. If this sounds familiar, you probably need to change your marketing strategy, your marketing goals, as well as the outlets you are advertising on. Consider using some unique and out-of-the-box marketing to get people’s attention and develop a loyal customer base.
The number one focus of the campaign should be to create customer loyalty. It is a known fact that it is far cheaper to retain customers than it is to obtain new customers. The trick is in creating programs and marketing that both encourages new customers to the store as well as ways of luring them back time and time again.
Free Samples – if you want to lure people into a restaurant, let them taste your product. If you are in an area saturated with business offices, cut up a bunch of sandwiches and send a staff member out to drop them off to employees with a special offer. The offer will enable you to track just how effective your campaign is.
Get Involved – community members are far more likely to support a business that is giving back, so don’t be shy about supporting the high school sports teams or other community efforts. You may even consider running your own event or donating your sales from a specific product to a local cause one day a month.
Make Loyalty Pay – if customers are giving you their loyalty, you should be giving them something back. Look at how hotels and airlines lure in repeat customers, even if they are not always offering the best prices. As American Express says, membership has its privileges. In addition to free meals or discounted meals, you can also give away swag to keep them coming back. You may also consider working out deals with other businesses in the area to offer joint discounts to all your loyalty club members.
Mobile Billboard Advertising – are there areas where there is heavy pedestrian traffic close by at mealtime? How effective do you think a mobile billboard with a picture of a sandwich and a discount code or an offer of a free side would be to those that have not yet made up their mind. In addition to the offer, have the directions right on the billboard if it is parked or put a QR code that will take them right to Google maps and direct them to your store in the ad.
